(46,436 posts)66. I can't show a picture of the four that died last year,
because four didn't die last year. Your mind is made up, as is mine, so there's no point in us discussing this any further. I will say, though, that I have been at the finish of this race for the past three years and the dogs are not completely exhausted when they arrive in Nome. They are happy and ready to run some more. The dogs are carefully gone over by experenced vets at every checkpoint and at the first sign of ANY distress, they are dropped from the race. These animals are probably far better cared for than your average pet, and despite what you're saying they love what they do.

I've done a 180 on that race & I no longer think it's a good thing for the dogs.
