(It essentially followed what is now U.S. Highway 62 through Arkansas to Tahlequah, Oklahoma). My history teacher told us about the gruesome details of the Trail, and my drama teacher actually played the role of John Ross in the Trail of Tears Pageant at Tsa-la-gi in Tahlequah (which we drama students all went to see, of course). It was an absolutely horrible experience for the Cherokees, absolutely horrible.
