SAN FRANCISCO November 22, 2013 (AP)

The San Francisco Bay Area's leading transit agency is reporting "major" system-wide delays because of technical problems linked to computer operations.

Company spokesman Jim Allison says the problem began early Friday, shortly after midnight, and affected 19 trains with 500 to 1,000 passengers.

By 3 a.m. PST, Allison said in an email to The Associated Press that there were still six trains still on the system working to get passengers to their destinations.

Allison blamed the problem on "computer systems in central control (that) are not communicating properly with the track switches."

He says train operators and track crews are instead manually maneuvering switches, which takes much more time.

What a Katrina-like disaster! They should just repeal it. This BART thing is never going to work.
