If his motive was to be a hero, that might be his reaction if he thinks he is just the fall guy.

I wish that there would have been a very open, complete investigation of everything - what the Warren committee was suppose to be. It could be that a lot of people - even ones as connected as former Senator Gary Hart have a very hard time that a President they loved was killed by essentially a nobody.

Not to mention here is at least one error. Kerry did not chair the SFRC until 2009 - in the 1990s, he was still far from the most senior. (In fact even in 2005, he was 4th in line.) This is not an error that Hart himself would have made. (Kerry did chair a committee on terrorism, drug running and gun running - that he used to investigate the illegal actions in support of the Contras and the illegal actions of BCCI.)
