I moved out here from Hawai'i in 1979 -- a lifetime ago.
It's funny, but I have my usual rounds and they don't take me that way, over the mountains. A woman from North County once indignantly asked me why my site-visit to Guadalupe with the Human Services Commission was such a revelation -- why had I never been there before?! My ex-husband used to drive around to explore places, probably still does, but I've never been like that as I don't have a good sense of direction.
Anyway, you seem to be very settled where you are, and if Garrison Keillor is to be believed, Minnesota is filled with people like Lois.
