(907 posts)(And I speak as a political moderate!) I'm a 61-year-old white guy who grew up under Jim Crow. Almost without exception, conservative politicians, activists, and spokesmen could be counted upon to oppose civil rights legislation. This stupid woman never would have had the courage of those who courageously spoke out against racial discrimination during the early 1950s, not to mention before. (Well, actually, throughout the 1960s.) Her party welcomed the white Southern segregationist "Democrats" into their ranks decades ago. She reminds me of the vain, cruel social climbing girls I had the misfortune to encounter when I was in high school. (Incidentally, they were all good little Republicans.
) I have absolutely no respect for Sarah Palin. In terms of intelligence and leadership qualities, Margaret Thatcher she ain't (not that I ever completely agreed with Thatcher, either). To sum up my estimation of Sarah Palin:
