(12,233 posts)that isn't corporately or state owned is the reason why we don't have a President McCain or VP Palin or Pres Romeny and his RW toolbag Paul Ryan.
There is a reason that the PTB have yet to take away social security for "shared sacrifice". There's a reason that Occupy was able to set up shop for so long and still continue work by buying back debt and taking on community issues, and that it resonated so much with the country, was an outlet of real anger - not TeaParty BS that popped up, and changes the conversation from national debt to the inequalities facing so many Americans.
There is a reason Walmart has to run a positive PR commercial spin about their company and the supposedly "happy" Walmart workers. You know their manner of treating workers and vast wealth inequality and "slave made" products are becoming a nightmare for them because they have to buy ad space to toot their own horn on how wonderful they are. That's not cheap to buy that space for promotion on their business model over advertising sale specials. I only wish that people weren't so stupid to be camping in Best Buy parking lots and know that others won't be lining up to trample one another over 6 discounted Xbox's that the store advertised. It's really quite remarkable that people are willing to do this for a bunch of inanimate objects. And many of us know that Black Friday discounts aren't all that good anyway. Clothing is marked up to full price and the "sale" price is more than you will pay on any other day of the year or special sale day. I've actually found better prices on these items 2 or 3 wks later... And with the Internet, I don't have to stand outside in the cold or rain or rummage thru piles of disturbed items with a crowd of people all around me; I can purchase many items on the Internet. Most of the companies offer free shipping and I can send the items to various family members without having to buy, wrap, and then ship (which can cost as much as the present). It bothers me that so many still are sheeple's enough to line up along the merchants ad scheme. Or believe there's a war in Xmas.
