Well see if the consumer backs up pledges to not shop earlier and earlier each year. If they don't show up for a fight there is no fight.
I'll shop this weekend, even early Friday.
And online anytime.
But I hope like me that most will not set foot in any store earlier than 6am Friday.

I'm guessing there will be a market for pre-black Friday but for me it isn't a fight. If it happens and sticks so be it. I'll just choose not to participate. Like you said the deals are there but many aren't worth it in the end. Black Friday for me, anything Thursdays that can't be had online, earlier or later is going to be eternally off limits for myself and I assume many others. They can have the fight, the deals, the ripoffs and I'll take family&friends Thursday Thanksgiving this year and every year.
