...the library was transitioning from card catalog to computer search. The card catalogs were there, about an acre of them, with a few computer terminals. The collection went way, way back. Turn of the century. And I don't mean the current century, I mean the one I was born in. A lot of the cards were done in ink, in very neat legible cursive of many hands.
FYI, Libraries are always getting old, long lost books returned years and decades after they go missing. It happens.

I remember bookmobiles too - cozy, a great place for kids to find great books to read.
