(28,784 posts)16. I've already come down against the TPP
and against the total lack of transparency regarding the contents of the same.
This is just an example of the bread and circuses of empire... people can fight all day about porn, but the real, substantive issues that actually improve the lives of Americans are outside of their ability to influence, for the most part.
...as we also saw in regard to the banker bailout/homeowner bankruptcy moment.
After a while, people get cynical about politics when they're only supposed to show up to vote, then their views on issues are ignored because a very few actually influence policy on trade issues, environmental issues, tax issues, etc. etc. etc.
