I am so sorry to see articles like this one coming out of the U.S. these days. What a far cry from the place I long ago imagined the U.S. would be with regard to medical care.

I came to Canada many years ago to marry my Canadian spouse. His father was elderly and dependent upon him at that time. I thought one day we'd move to the U.S. so I could be closer to my family...that was before the hard reality of medical care costs there hit. Our son was born in Canada with multiple serious health issues. That's when I knew I'd never be moving back there at all. The cost of care specialists, long term hospital stays would have meant we'd be living out of a box had we not stayed here. I was a medical refugee due to my son and thankful to my core to Canada for the life saving care my son has had here.

My dream was to see the U.S. adopt a sort of medicare for all system. Instead articles like these come out with ridiculous premise that say those who are old are only using the system more because now they can. B.S.!!

I have heard this nonsense before. What is he suggesting? That people on Medicaid should be fined a cost the more they use services? Has he factored into the equation that elderly people are simply sicker more often and have long term health issues in the last years of life? What a cold hearted ridiculous way to frame this issue. C.N.N. should be ashamed to publish something even suggesting such as this for the rest of the world to see. I think I'll pass that article along to Canadian media sources and see what they make of it.
