(15,438 posts)We can't forget that Keith Olbermann worked his behind off, and fought hard for, a progressive slice of the cable news stations.
Bloomberg, Fox "News" Channel, CNN, CNBC, and others are all pro-corporate and rarely report both sides of an important issue. The only widely-available place (which is still limited in most markets) where Progressives and Liberals can get their news to debunk the pro-Republican, pro-Corporate crap the other networks espouse, is MSNBC.
I'm certain the moment Liberals and Progressives boycott MSNBC, the Execs will quickly scrap the strong voices of Big Ed, Rachel Maddow, Chris Hayes, Karen Finney, Joy-Ann Reid, Al Sharpton, Toure, Krystal Ball, Ari Melber, etc. with the excuse that "Liberal media isn't cost-effective", and replace them with Halperins, Mikas, and other center-right to right talkingheads.
Yes, we have the power to change things, but if our voices are silenced altogether, who will hear us?
