I can't get Al Jazeera America because I have ATT-Uverse and they won't carry it. Time Warner won't, and neither will Verizon. The whole idea is to not give Righties and Corporate America bosses the very excuse they're looking for to shut down another avenue to spread the progressive view as far and as wide as we can. So I wholeheartedly disagree with you.
Whether we like it or not, MSNBC is the best we've got for now until Al Jazeera America can find a way to get into the mainstream. It took MSNBC years before it was recognized. You've got to remember that not everyone is as politically vigilant as you or I, and most get their politics on the fly. Also, most people still get their news from their local broadcasts or radio, and the news about Bashir's quitting as well as Rachel Maddow's hard-hitting pieces as she scolds the "beltway media" for their lack of common sense reporting helps get them and our message into the M$M. The more people hear about MSNBC's progressives, the more they're likely to come watch, the tinier the excuse for corporate execs to wrap up progressive voices and "try something new".
