It still requires a 3/4 majority of the individual states to be ratified (50 X 0.75 =37.5, or 38 states still would be required to ratify any proposed amendment before it became a part of the constitution).
According to politifact ( http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2011/aug/30/xavier-becerra/11000-attempts-amend-us-constitution-only-27-amend/) there have been 11,000 attempts to amend the constitution. It has been amended 27 times.
