(135,425 posts)128. It's a fair question, I've pondered it elsewhere in this conversation.
I really don't know why--all I know is that a couple of candidates who have expressed a desire towards normalizing have, upon ascending to the Presidency and presumably getting a brief, backed off that goal.
It's odd. There's more "there" there than we know, I think. What that "there" is, who knows? I do think that when Fidel dies, the objections to normalization will die with him.
