Can't remember who it was but they were saying that the goal was more viewers, so they were careful not to alienate either side. He said aside from a few incidents, the writers had to ensure they didn't go too far or they'd risk losing viewers. I can't remember the incidents but he did mention a few issues where the writers wouldn't budge for moral reasons.
