This is why I am the wet blanket when people here get convinced "the tide is turning" or "the republicans are done!"

People in this country are beyond perfectly happy, they are in fact ANXIOUS to see cuts to SS and Medicare, while being on a hair trigger ready to jump on board with whatever ridiculous victimization drama the right wing feeds them.

It, sadly, is hopeless short of a MAJOR turn of events.
