27. Do Alaskans even talk like that?

If you can find a recording of any speech she gave early in her term as mayor of Wasilla, listen to it. She sounds nothing like she does now, what with emphasizing "hatin'" and "workin'" and other verbs she drops her g's from. She never said "ya" instead of "you" and I think she just cynically employed a more folksy sounding persona when McCain chose her to be Vice-President, one that she thought might appeal to a Republican Southern base. When she goes out of her way to spell the way she talks, it makes me wonder.
