I didn't compare Phil Robertson to Santa.

I compared the alleged fakeness OF THE SHOW to the fakeness of Santa.

And really, as far as accusing Phil Robertson, or the show, of trying to promote bigotry, how do you know what they're trying to promote?

He was asked a question. He answered it.

Now people are all up in arms rabid about his answer. Seems to me, it kind of doesn't matter to people what thoughts people have in their minds...it all boils down to "keep your thoughts to yourself".

Well, that's a big help, now, isn't it?

How are people going to know whose minds could be changed if they keep their thoughts to themselves?

Expressing disgusting thoughts could be a person crying for help on the inside. But fuck 'em, right? There's no helping "that bunch", right?

Way better that they should keep their thoughts to themselves and never have the opportunity to have those thoughts changed by someone who can actually look beyond the words to what might be going on inside the person.

Also, and this is something nobody seems to give a shit about...people sometimes say some horrible things because their minds are screwed up for some reason.

What's the "liberal" way of dealing with someone who might be going through that (like an old alcoholic)?

Call the person a bigot.
