15. Bill, though, is not even one of the Koch brothers

Who are David and Charles - not their brother Bill.

Meaning that Bill is NOT

1. a Koch who donates to a slew of conservative "think" tanks

although now research is showing him donating to more Republicans.

However

http://www.hcn.org/hcn/blogs/goat/bill-koch-coal-and-political-cash

"Like his brothers, Bill is known for contributing to political campaigns. Unlike those of his brothers, Bill’s donations have not been constrained by ideology -- his cash has gone to politicians as varied as Richard Pombo, Ted Kennedy, Bob Dole, John McCain and, yes, Al Gore. He, his wife and employees of Oxbow donated some $70,000 to the campaign of now ex-U.S. Rep. John Salazar, a Colorado Democrat and brother of Interior Secretary Ken Salazar. So the tendency by the media and activists to group Bill in with his hard-right brothers is clearly unfair. Bill may be an opportunist, but you can’t call him an ideologue, and he’s had a long history of strife with his more notorious brothers."

But then the article goes on to note that he is donating large sums to Boehner and then he donated $2 million to Romney's super-pac.

2. a Koch who is connected to Koch oil. His share was bought out long ago, although I guess he still owns a coal company (or bought it with the proceeds.)

Back in 2004, the website politics1 had Bill listed as a potential Senate candidate - for the Democratic Party in Kansas.

And that is the kind of candidate that the KDP (and probably the RNC) likes - one who can finance his/her own campaign.
