In reply to the discussion: When You Defend Phil Robertson, Here's What You're Really Defending [View all]Zorra
(27,670 posts)the more alienated from the Republican party the majority of people, and voters, in this country become. Sure, straight white conservative bigots have come out in force to defend their hero, but as more is revealed about his hate and bigotry, the more all decent, rational people will distance themselves from him and his hateful, ignorant ugliness.
There are way more of us than there are of them, and bigots like Robertson will mobilize the majority to overwhelmingly vote ensure that republican bigots don't get into office. Most people who are members of minority groups, and all rational straight white men, understand that John Boehner, Sarah Palin, Ted Cruz, and the majority of republican voters believe exactly what Phil Robertson believes.
This country is no longer a straight white male conservative dystopia. Minorities are voting against the hate and prejudice of the Republican party in ever greater numbers. White liberals and rational white independents are scared shitless that the wacko, ignorant, superstitious hypocritical bigots who are like Robertson, and who are supporting Robertson, will get voted into office.
The hate, ignorance, racism, and bigotry expressed by Phil Robertson, and his biggest fan, Sarah Palin, represent the true, ugly heart and soul of the Republican Party.
