Been on this earth 66 years. The white noise of abuse never really goes away and probably never will. I've lived a long time, knew at five years old that there was something different about me. Didn't quite have the insight in those dark old days to figure it out until middle school and being called queer. One trip to the library was enought to convince me to keep my secret to myself. Finally came out in 1978 and joined the gay liberation movement. Seen many changes, enought to give hope, but as you say, not in my lifetime. Worse is seeing older LGBT become isolated and alone again. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
