7. Rape isn't "germane"?

In what world? Some of us take our lives seriously and don't see them as trivial or a distraction. This is exactly the kind of bullshit that pisses people a lot of people off. Perhaps you should try looking outside of your sense of entitlement for a couple of minutes to imagine what it must be like for so many hundreds of women on this site to be survivors of rape and domestic abuse.

If you can't support something as basic as my right to safety, why would you even consider yourself a Democrat? Women are the majority of voters in the Democratic Party. Your insistence that issues that are of central concern to many of us are somehow not germane is wholly insulting. We take enough shit from the Republicans on this. Why do you feel compelled to dish it out too? You could simply trash the threads rather than making a point of declaring concerns of a number of women on this site to be less than "germane."

I am sick to fucking death of my body being a proxy for political games. Basic human rights matter. So excuse me if I think my life actually has value.

I don't care nearly as much about Social Security as many of the older members of this site because I know I will never be able draw on it. But that doesn't mean I feel compelled to tell people their concerns are not "germane" because they aren't about me. The incredible sense of entitlement that allows some to declare the experiences of others insignificant is truly mind boggling.
