You have a 90 day grace period before you lose your insurance. If you don't pay the months you use the private insurance company will send it to collections and place it on your credit report. If you can't pay then unenroll by calling the private health insurance company. Once your enrolled they handle everything. Government just handles any tax credits you may receive.
