washed before they are used. Otherwise, they don't work well. That's my guess for these towels. Your friend probably put them out, unwashed, so they'd look brand new. A trip through the washer and dryer will fix that, I'm sure.

You can fix that washboard effect by tossing them in the dryer for five minutes.

I've encountered those in hotels. They look luxurious, but don't soak up a drop.

I hate soft, fluffy towels. Towels should be a little rough, for the best drying.
