225. There used to be Drivers Education classes

Jan 2014

Where an instructor taught driving laws and practices then applied them with driving.

Now with the privatization bullshit, we have Driving Schools where the kids go and sit in an old store for six weeks watching movies about car crashes, drunk driving and wreckless teen driving then spend 6 hours behind the wheel where most of it is spent learning to drive through and back up between 5 cones. All at the lovely cost of $500 to mom and dad.

No one teaches drivers how to drive anymore unless they have that nurturing parent and you did and I was lucky enough to also. My dad had be driving everywhere once I had a permit and he was confident I could handle the vehicle. I drove from Iowa to California at 15 with dad in the passenger seat telling my what I should be doing in each situation. Open highway driving, mountain roads and city driving all in one grand trip.
