(1,515 posts)I will start with ... I am in complete agreement with the basic point: unless you are passing someone on the right, you have no business being in the left lane.
But it would seem that the general ... I'll say "stability" ... out there is on the decline. You really never know who is on the road. Or for that matter, who has a badge. So why add to the general anger out there by running up behind someone with the high beams on? Hell, even the simple high beam flash - which is very common in the upper Midwest as a way to let someone know you need them to move to the right so you can legally pass in the left lane - is enough to send some folks to calling in false reports.
Which is what I should have posted. That is what I meant by "be careful with that."
I've been driving since the late 70s. Lived in Minnesota, southern California, Washington and driven all over the West Coast and Midwest.
IMO, general driving skills are on the decline. Or driving behavior is perhaps more accurate, because I can't know if people don't know what they are doing or simply chose to do what they do. But I'd really hate to drive for a living in this environment, though. Especially the big rig drivers with the crap I see people in cars do to them on interstates and freeways, both in the open spaces and in city.
