In reply to the discussion: Left Lane Squatters - Read the DAMN Sign... [View all]A HERETIC I AM
(24,876 posts)345. How fucking DARE you?
Who the hell do you think you are talking to?
Yours on the other hand is basically "I am a trucker and MY TIME is money so I will BREAK the law and endanger other's lives around me. FUCK your rules and regulations. SAFETY is safety but money is money"
You've got a lot of fucking nerve writing that sort of bullshit, I'll have to tell you. How the fuck dare you impugn my professionalism? You don't know me. You know nothing about me. But I'll tell you this;
I'm willing to wager I drive more miles in one year than you drive in ten and I already have more miles under my belt WITHOUT AN ACCIDENT OR TICKET than you will have in 3 lifetimes. So kindly stifle that bullshit, OK?
I am going to bite my tongue and fingers pretty god damned hard, because I don't want this alerted on by you because of what I am thinking right now, but it probably already will be because of what I've said so far.
Like I said above, I have an inordinate amount of patience for asshole drivers. Those are drivers that do not have the common fucking sense or the god damned decency to at least TRY and understand how to properly navigate a multi lane, limited access highway, not to mention the myriad other idiotic things automobile drivers do, much less have any understanding about how to operate safely around 80,000 pound vehicles with 18 tires.
Here's a quick questionnaire for you;
When you are driving away from the sun (westbound in the AM, Eastbound in the PM) do you have your headlights on, even though it may be 2 hours before or after the day/night transition?
Do you understand why you should?
When you are driving in even the slightest amount of rain, do you have your headlights on as a matter of course?
Do you understand why you should?
When you are driving on an overcast day, do you burn your headlights?
Do you understand why you should?
When you are on a two-lane road, regardless of weather and time of day, do you burn your headlights?
Do you understand why you should?
Have you ever taken more than 2 or 3 seconds to pass the tandem sets on a tractor trailer?
Do you understand why you shouldn't?
Have you ever, in the entire 30 whatever years of driving you have done, become frustrated behind a slow moving or slowly accelerating heavy truck and accelerated past him only to take the next exit just a short bit ahead?
When you are entering a freeway, are you looking over your shoulder or to the left while accelerating so as to merge smoothly and not cause the nearest driver to apply his brakes?
When you are exiting a freeway, do you do your best to signal your intentions at the appropriate distance and do your best to maintain highway speed until you reach the decel lane so as to not cause the person behind you to brake?
I'd like to say I am interested in your answers, but the fact is, I'm not. I have a pretty bloody good feeling I know the answers to most of them.
I figure I save some idiots life on average once a day when I am making a long trip, simply because I conduct the driving task in a professional manner, because the idiot whose life I saved, doesn't. And I think I am probably typical of the vast majority of the more than ten million American professionals who drive commercial vehicles for a living. When you see a tractor trailer off in a ditch, and no other vehicles involved, I can pretty much guarantee you that if the guy didn't fall asleep at the wheel, he put that truck there saving some idiots life.
You are relatively new here, so let me clue you in a little. This forum generally runs in cycles with regards to topics, and threads about highway safety, hogging the left lane, speeding etc., come up on a regular basis. I've been in almost all of them, simply trying to make the point that if there is an open lane to your right and people are behind you, .....
YOU ARE IN THE WRONG FUCKING LANE
Now, I have no idea whether or not font size makes any difference to that thick, bullheaded skull of yours, but THAT is the entire point.
It has nothing to do with whether or not you are doing the speed limit. It has nothing to do with whether or not you feel justified. It has nothing to do with whether or not you get a kick out of pissing others off and it has nothing to do with whether or not you are so damned superior to everyone else that you (and you aren't alone, I assure you) feel it is completely OK to hold someone else up merely because you have appointed yourself safety manager for that stretch of the boulevard.
It has to do with common courtesy and common sense.
Something it is now clear to me you lack, rather comprehensively.
"Just saying..."
