(36,892 posts)...and arrange for rabies vaccination. Seriously. Do not delay. And call your local county or municipal animal control agency-- they'll want to try to trap and necropsy the animal just in case. But rabies is epizootic among raccoons in much of the U.S., so don't piss around with that. Only a very very few people have ever survived it.
on edit-- just read your other comments. If it did not cut you at all, you need not worry about the vaccination, i.e. if it bit you on the OUTSIDE of your shoe or something. If it nipped skin, you should check with your doctor, who will invariably advise vaccination. I mean, there isn't much downside to getting the shot, but there isn't ANY upside to getting rabies. It's a death sentence. But definitely contact animal control and get the raccoon trapped and necropsied.
