when my husband had to get rabies shots because he was bitten by a cat, he got a shot of thick vaccine right at the bite location, and then shots in all his limbs. That first night, he says he remembers getting at least 5 shots in different locations. Then they scheduled him for several follow-up visits over the next few months, where he got more shots in different places. This is the standard treatment protocol for rabies these days.
If this is not what happened to you at the ER, I suspect they did not give you rabies vaccine, and you may need to address the matter further (I do see that you called your County Health department, so good on you for that!). I suspect the shot you received at your local ER may have been antibiotics. I confess that I am *extremely* surprised that they did not address the rabies issue with you at the ER.
We all hate to keep nagging you, but it really is a serious matter. Nobody here wants to read an internet story about your death two months from now. I very much hope that you will persist in seeking appropriate treatment until you receive it.
