Like I said before, I've been protected by the cops in the past and have generally had good reason to trust them. I've had boyfriends who have had trouble with the law and I am glad I was never on that side of the exchange, for sure.

Yes, I admit, these events have shaded my opinion of him...even more so since he has talked with the kids on the street(including mine), and that makes me feel more protective and wary. My daughter is the one who never really liked him, because we'd seen him hit his dog on more than one occasion and wanted to call animal services ...but we never had any way to prove it, didn't know what to say...

But in the end, I guess he's the one that has to worry about the cops, oh well.
