(7,768 posts)Aerows and the neighbor that is feeding the raccoons need to have a nice long chat! The neighbor needs to see in person what havoc, pain and grief her feeding of these animals has caused. If she can't be reasoned with, then the law needs to be researched.
I will bet there is a statute regarding feeding wild animals and she is violating it.
At the very least, I would think the harboring and feeding of raccoons constitutes a public nuisance and health liability. You can call the State or County and inquire
A sheriff's deputy pulling up in her driveway to investigate might get her attention.
Who knows, the idiot neighbor may be hostage in her own house at this point anyway!
BTW, traps work great baited with peanut butter and cats won't be attracted to it. Small shotguns at close range are also effective as well as a .22 rifle. (must be an accurate head shot though)
Raccoon carcasses placed in a field will quickly be disposed of by eagles, turkey vultures, owls and ravens.
