Christie: 'I Don't Know' Who Initiated Bridge Lane Closures

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) said Thursday that he didn't know who initiated the George Washington Bridge lane closures, though it has been revealed that members of his staff were likely involved.

"I don't know," Christie said when asked point-blank. "I guess time will tell, but clearly there was knowledge of this action, whatever it was, prior to the beginning of it with Bridget Kelly."

"I was lied to. For that, she's been terminated."

That's odd. I mean, he said Kelly lied to him, and he fired her. Now he's saying he has no idea who gave her the order. An invisible member of the "family" who is somehow between Christie and Kelly to have that level of authority?

Chuck Schumer: Chris Christie Bridge Emails Are 'Really Bad'

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) told reporters Thursday that unearthed emails between Republican Chris Christie's staffers regarding the closure of lanes on the George Washington Bridge look bad for the New Jersey governor.

"I saw the emails -- I think they're really bad. And we'll see where it goes next," said Schumer. (The George Washington Bridge runs between New York and New Jersey.)

Schumer declined to elaborate on the politically-charged scandal, saying he hadn't yet seen Christie's statement. He didn't say if Congress should get involved.

"I don't know if Congress should be investigating this," he said.
