President Biden certainly has his messaging down cold...concise, well-thought, 100% appropriate. [View all]
It's sad that we even have to think about it...it's what Presidents should do.
But what a difference.
That SHARP left turn from Melania ranting about Christmas and the "fucking children, are you kidding me" stuff to Joe and Jill planting hearts on the WH lawn and sipping coffee with their pooches.
What really struck me, though, was his statement on the impeachment hearings. This could have been an ideal opportunity to rip Trump a new one, and in his closing remarks, he said...without naming Trump:
This sad chapter in our history has reminded us that democracy is fragile. That it must always be defended. That we must be ever vigilant. That violence and extremism has no place in America. And that each of us has a duty and responsibility as Americans, and especially as leaders, to defend the truth and to defeat the lies.
We all know where the lies came from. And so does President Biden. The WAY he chose to express his thoughts really illuminates where we are right now. I have been following the "@potus" Twitter account since he took control of it. Yesterday, I followed the White House account. And it felt SO STRANGE doing that, after four years of Trump, because the words "White House" were a guaranteed face palm and "Oh no, not this shit again" response.
I'm sure his statement has been posted on DU, but here is the link for anyone who hasn't read it.
