Granted, Ike would be a dangerous liberal in this day and age, but he still presided over some pretty nefarious policies.

In fact, there was a special effort to dispatch Patrice Lumumba before JFK was inaugurated because it was generally believed that Kennedy wouldn't be as agreeable as Ike was to such policies. Accordingly, Lumumba was assassinated on January 17, 1961.

Similarly, the Truman administration had opposed a coup in Iran and so the CIA didn't overthrow Mossadegh until August, 1953, seven months into Eisenhower's first term.

Thanks to lobbying by the United Fruit Company, Guatemala's Arbenz was deposed by the CIA roughly a year later.
