much less have a relationship, get some sex, get married, and the whole 9 yards.

Lots of people in India have selectively aborted and "otherwise eliminated" girls. As a result, today there are too many men and not enough women.

IMO, these events are caused by a hopelessness on the relationship front, coupled with the society's misogyny.
