75. Imagine the news reports if a black man had shot a white teenage boy.

There would be weeks of headline stories about the white teen's life, his excellent grades, his leadership qualities, how many people loved him and looked up to him.

The black man would be in jail.

This incident is not all about race. It also involves the growing tolerance in the U.S. for violent vigilante behavior against perceived "terrorism." We've all watched the police forces around the nation become armed with military gear. There is a culture in the U.S. now that praises vigilante idiots like this Zimmerman and excuses their behavior. There are numerous examples every week around the nation of police invading the wrong houses, shooting innocent people mistakenly suspected of some vague crime, tazing young children until they die, etc. It's not all about race but race plays a key role - most of the victims are not white.
