There are worse places to be than Everett. Perhaps your brother can get you in to Boeing. Not everyone there has engineering degrees, but it does help to know someone. If he doesn't work there already he may know someone who does.

The job market here isn't as bad as many other places in the country. I don't know what you normally do for work but I do know that getting that offer can take some time. I know several people who are looking and it seems like 2 or 3 interviews are the norm before hiring managers make a decision. It's a grind. If you have office or customer service skills try Volt Temporary Services. They usually have the best long term temp assignments which is also a big trend here. This way they can avoid offering benefits. Microsoft uses them quite a bit. Also check out the local Work Source Office. There is one in downtown Everett and they are a great place to get resume feedback and interview classes. It's Free!

Good Luck and keep us posted on your hunting. There is a Career Help and Advice Group here on DU as well if you want a safe place to vent.
