16. It's magic thinking.

I guarantee, there are rooms full of people praying for that fetus every day. And when the end result comes, and the results are horrific, they will shrug en mass, and claim it was god's will.

And, as it will be born, they will no longer show any interest, and expect it to pull itself up by its bootstraps.

My goodness, the world is turning me into a hyper-cynic.
