14. Not a bad idea

Remember that a state sanctioned marriage is by license which means the state gets to decide who can and can't and throughout history the state has used that power to discriminate against people on more than one basis. I'm all for the state getting out of the marriage business entirely. If someone wants to get a priest, or a rabbi, or a witch doctor to sanction their marriage, and/or if they want to enter into a civil contract between each other, more power to them, just don't tie any govenment benefits to it.
