(4,033 posts)Those of us who choose to take on a dog (or cat) to be part of our family know that the hardest thing about it is that they leave us all too soon. You were there at the end letting her know that everything was all right and that she was loved and cherished. I have always said that if humans have souls and there is some sort of existence after death, that our dogs will be there too; for they have much purer souls that we humans will ever have. And that being the case, when the time is right, you and she will be reunited. The loss is hard, and it will always be there, but it will lessen in time. You will be able to remember all the good times you had with her. Let the tears flow now and mourn her. But also know that she knew she was loved and cherished for all her life.
