(84,711 posts)Charleston and up to Willmington, NC. That's not going to be good. I have relatives there so I'm keeping a watch on Twitter as to how that progresses. Folks aren't used to how treacherous ice storms can be to power lines, tree's snapping and the dangerous slick road conditions and iced bridges. I read they don't have salt spreading trucks down there and so the work has to be done with manpower and shovels to try to cover the bridges and major roadways. Not Good...(but then they don't have these storms enough to have truck spreaders...so there's nothing else they can do.)
Stay safe wherever you are...but if it's an ice storm...please be extra careful if you haven't been through one before--its very different from snow. You don't see the ice (called black ice) because it looks like the road is clear...and next thing you know you're skidded into a tree or worse. They can't cover every spot.
