(19,926 posts)Who lives more in poverty and in inner city areas where crime is more prevalent? There is a reason for crime and it's usually poverty, no hope of a decent future, lack of good education. There are a lot of reasons for everything. It's not so cut and dry and you seem to want to make it.
Just as race is one factor to consider in why this double murder took place, so is poverty and future hopes something to take into account in what you describe. And yes, race is one of them, although I would look at it as an extension of the history of racism in our country where as you want to make whites the victims in your scenario it seems. But minorities have less opportunity than whites do, and live in inner city areas where gangs are prevalent due to poverty and lack of resources.
But back to stats, where are they gotten? From police reports? If so, do you think that's an objective place to get them? And why do stats discount any chance of racism in this case? So if a man gets raped, is it discounted and not allowed to be thought of as rape because statistically women get raped so much more than men?
And regarding SYG, I agree that he doesn't stand a chance using that, what I'm saying is it is emboldening racists to believe they have a right to murder blacks when they see people like Zimmerman get away with it. Speaking of Zimmerman, do you think race shouldn't have been brought up in that case?
By the way... I'm not sure what exactly you are trying to defend here. What I'm getting is that you think that racism doesn't really exist, or at least it's balanced and all races are racist and even that blacks are more racist than whites? That seems to be the gist of it. I don't know why you brought up the any criticism of Obama is racist idea...
