The flag should not be used as "wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery", or for covering a speaker's desk, draping a platform, or for any decoration in general (exception for coffins).

Notice it says "the flag". It doesn't say blue is forbidden, or white stars. The intent is that no FLAG should be deconstructed and used to make apparel. Otherwise someone might say you shouldn't wear anything red, anything white, or anything blue.

Fuck the Robertson family, but Maher's writers should do a little research.
