9. It only took Mark Sanford two years to bounce back and get elected after his disgrace.

Republicans quickly forgive the transgressions of officials in their party. Sanford's mythical Appalachian Trail was just a bump in the road and he was soon back on his feet, his mistress discreetly waiting for him in the wings with hardly a peep from the righteous in the ranks. Which isn't how they treat Democrats in the same situation. They go full Hulk when it's a Democrat that pulls a stunt like that. And Mark Sanford didn't just have a sexual indiscretion. He also misused public funds and committed other fraud. Yet, there he was, two years later, winning an election for US rep. I don't care about his sex life (well, only as gossip fodder), but there is too much of a double standard between the improprieties of Democrats and those of Republicans.
