(57,785 posts)The crime occurred 23 years ago. Dylan says the abuse stopped at that time. Some states have fairly generous statutes of limitations for child abuse, meaning they give a certain period of time after the person turns 18. They do not allow twelve years, however. If there is some NY law to the contrary, I would be interested in seeing it.
