It shows where the loyalties of Republicans lie in that they are willing to fund crop insurance for farmers year after year with few strings attached. But they are unwilling to fund unemployment insurance for working people, most of whom live in cities or larger towns except for a limited number of years.

The unemployed are, in this economy, no more to blame for their lack of a job and need for assistance than are the farmers when their fields flood and they lack a harvest.

But the Republicans treat these two groups differently, favoring farmers and punishing working people. Shame on the Republicans.
