17. Meaningless jargon. Folks tossed around 'I'm a pragmatist' to dress up their opposition to equality

for years all we heard was 'don't let the perfect be the enemy of the good, marriage equality is impossible, for at least a generation, no President could support it and be elected again, change is always slow, we have to be realistic and understand that Civil Unions are the best we can get until enough of the older generation dies off.....baby steps, don't be a purist, give up on your rights now'.
Of course they were wrong.
