186. The OP is a manual for bad faith argument

Feb 2014

Step One: engage in ad hominem attacks against the messenger.

Step Two: when people claim you are making hominem attacks against the messenger, make ad hominem attacks against THEM by accusing them of belonging to a "cult" that worships the messenger. If you can, be sure to make hints like "you must have something to hide" in order to smear them further.

Step Three: whatever you do, never allow the focus to switch from the ad hominem attack to the real issue of intrusive, extra-judicial surveillance of a free peoples. Be sure to use words like "bigot" as much as possible in order to poison the water and prevent any real discussion of the erosion of civil liberties in the US.

Step Four: never allow any comprehension that you are a tool to creep into your mind.

Step Five: repeat as necessary.
