52. She isn't rioting

People aren't rioting because things haven't gotten bad enough, or bad enough fast enough. It either takes a shock (many people suddenly losing everything at the same time) or having conditions so bad that you have nothing left to lose. In the first case, we did have a movement (occupy) that was suppressed, and which was not joined by the vast majority of Americans. Indeed, many americans laughed at Occupy and called them dirty hippies without a cause or leadership. If more had joined them things might have worked out differently.

Even the writer isn't there yet. She has a roof over head, food, and medical care. Maybe when there are so many people who have lost everything that they can't fit under the bridges, they will riot. The question is, will anyone else join them?
